From our perspective, the previous twelve months seem to have been more successful and positive for organisations of all types.
We have seen an increase in those looking to manage risk in the areas of Information Security and Business Continuity Management.
Energy has also been a growing area of concern for organisations and the 2015 agenda is set to increase this.
Looking to the year ahead, there are several big changes coming that, if managed correctly, will further benefit and support applicable organisations.
Updates to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Two popular ISO management system standards are undergoing the revision process, with both expected to be finalised in 2015.
The ISO 9001 standard for Quality management is expected to be published in September 2015 with ISO 14001 for Environmental management expected slightly before, around May 15.
We know that both standards will follow the Annex SL 10 clause structure that we have seen in both recent ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 revisions. This has the obvious benefit of making integration easier across standards.
There is also expected to be an emphasis on risk management rather than preventive action, which we feel will greatly increase the benefit companies can obtain from implementing management system standards.

ESOS Regulations – Energy Audit Deadline Dec 2015
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme will be another theme of 2015, and although it is already in force, the deadline for completing and submitting an energy audit is December 2015. This means that you need to start collecting data now in order to cover the required twelve month period.
There are other ways to comply with ESOS including implementing ISO 50001 the Energy Management Standard, and we expect this will be attractive to those who already have an ISO 14001 Environmental System, mainly due to the discounted certification rates that are available.
We have been working to ensure our consultants are ready to assist organisation with ESOS compliance by conducting an ESOS energy audit or implementing ISO 50001.
