Just over a year after the popular ISO 9001:2015 standard was revised, the leading Automotive Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949:2009 has been replaced by IATF 16949:2016.
The standard is complementary to ISO 9001:2015 and can not be considered a “stand-alone” quality management system.
Transition Deadlines
All audits against the previous 2009 standard will stop after 1st October 2017 and all organisations must have made transition to 16949:2016 by 14th September 2018.
The transition audit will be the same length as a recertification audit and will be a full audit of the system.
However, clients looking to upgrade their ISO 9001:2015 certificate can get a reduction of up to 30% of the IATF 16949 required days (at stage 2)
