Faria Education Group has successfully transitioned its information security management system (ISMS) to the latest version of the ISO 27001:2022 standard, helping it protect school and student data with updated controls and best practices.
Faria Education Group is a leader in international education systems and services working with over 10,000 schools and 4 million students in 155 countries worldwide. Their portfolio of products within the ISO scope includes MangeBac, OpenApply, SchoolsBuddy, Atlas, and CurriculumTrak.
With offices across the world including London UK, Portland US, Ivano-Frankivsk Ukraine, Taipei Taiwan, Shanghai China and Wan Chai Hong Kong, managing the time differences presented a challenge however this was soon overcome with careful planning and flexible working.
ISO 27001:2022
Transition
Faria engaged Assent Risk Management early in 2023 to review the existing ISMS and make recommendations for transitioning to the new standard.
After a full review of the system, using a web based project management system to collaborate and track actions, Assent’s consultants began work updating documentation and working with Faria’s stakeholders to bring their system up-to-date.
ISO 27001:2022
Internal Audit Programme
Later in the project we conducted a full system Internal Audit to test the effectiveness of controls and identify any potential improvements.
We were also pleased to chair Quarterly Steering Group Meetings, engaging key people in the business.
External Audit Support
Throughout June and July 2023, Faria underwent a detailed external audit with UKAS accredited certification body BSI, who took an on-site/remote hybrid approach to the audit.
Assent consultants supported these sessions, particularly where multiple BSI auditors were on site at the same time.
