Green Deal Funding to End

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) cited low take up and concerns about industry standards as reasons for ending the funding.

What Now for Greener Homes?

It leaves a gap in the government’s energy efficiency policy, as there appears to be no replacement scheme. However there has been a nod towards the building industry and consumer groups being tasked with finding alternatives.

A whole industry of green deal providers has appeared to help household access green deal funding for energy improvements to the UK’s housing stock – which is said to be some of the worst insulated in Europe.

Uncertainty now exists as to what any new policy would be, while the government is also said to bee considering other subsidies for new solar farms.
