Risk management consultancy Assent is embarking on the double challenge of not only developing consultancy resources for a new management system standard, but also seeking certification in it’s own business.
ISO 39001 is the new global standard for a road traffic safety management system. The standard was published last October (2012), and BSI launched a certification scheme in December of 2012.
We feel the standard will help reduce one of the consultancy’s main risks. Our consultants and associates travel around the UK on a daily basis to help our clients manage their risk, but this in itself poses our major risk.
It has been estimated that up to a third of all road traffic accidents involve somebody who is at work at the time. This may account for over 20 fatalities and 250 serious injuries every week.
The implementation and certification process will be documented, including the lessons learnt.
