About the Project

Assent has worked with Sulzer in the UK previously, providing consultancy services for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. In November 2022, they approached us again for support with reviewing and benchmarking their travel security programme against the guidance provided in ISO 31030:2021 Travel Risk Management for Organisations, across the wider group.

Our Approach

Assent assigned travel industry specialist & ISO 31030 consultant Bex Deadman to provide support with the implementation of the standard.

The project comprised of a gap analysis of ISO 31030 and review and analysis of their current programme and requirements completed after a 12 month project, leading to improved communications with travellers, effective solutions and reduced risks.

The Assent team are proud to have helped Sulzer align with ISO 31030 and looks forward to working with them on future projects

Consultant Comment:

Sulzer is one of a few organisations to embark on a thorough analysis of their travel programme and not being scared to get under the cover.  They had some troubling issues around the consistency and timeliness of security approvals. Using ISO 31030 as a benchmark; we created a framework which quickly identified and rectified the cause of the operational issues and helped the stakeholders promote TRM within their organisation more effectively. Travel technology and TRM technology is not seamless; Sulzer were able to identify this and have taken proactive steps to improve the solution.

Client Comment:

We are a security focussed company as a third of the countries we travel to are categorised as critical. Our interest in ISO 31030 led to our introduction to Bex. Our travel management is decentralised and outsourced and has very little to do with my day job, that said the booking and approval processes impeded my ability to do that job. Bex’s knowledge of the intricacies of the travel industry and supporting technology has helped us to not only understand why our current solutions were failing, but also to help us to build stronger processes using ISO 31030 as a benchmark. It is a total eye-opener, as the majority of the programme is your responsibility but you just know that by being thorough you are then in a position to do the best for your people, wherever they are. I sleep easier at night now.
